Why Winter is the Best Time for CoolSculpting

Your summer body starts in the winter.  If you were less than happy with your body this past summer, it’s the perfect time to talk with us about how we can get to work during winter to make sure you’re ready when the warm weather returns.  One service we love to do during the winter months is CoolSculpting!

What is CoolSculpting?

CoolSculpting is a non-surgical solution for body contouring.   It’s a non-invasive procedure that cools areas of the skin to an extremely low temperature.  CoolSculpting technology allows the extreme temperatures to reach beneath the skin’s surface down to the fat cells and freeze them.  This process causes the fat cells to die off allowing us to treat and elminate localized areas of fat on the stomach, love handles, legs and more!

Benefits of CoolSculpting

Once the fat cells die off, your body will naturally eliminate them over time, and you’ll notice visible results that include:

·         Less fat

·         Reduced cellulite

·         A more toned appearance

View before & after CoolSculpting results by body part.

Results will vary from client to client, but in general, CoolSculpting is an FDA-approved, proven treatment for visibly reducing unwanted fat in both men and women.

Here’s Why Winter is The Perfect Time to Book a CoolSculpting Appointment

CoolSculpting services can be done all year round, but we love doing them in winter for several reasons.

First, CoolSculpting often requires multiple sessions spaced several weeks apart.  By starting treatments during the winter, you’ll give your body time to respond to treatments so you’ll have visible results by the time summer rolls around again.

Two, once your body does respond to treatments, it can take several months before you actually see visible results.  In addition to needing multiple treatments, you also need to wait for your body to process and eliminate the dead fat cells.  This process can take up to 3 months to complete.

Finally, sometimes CoolSculpting can cause redness, swelling and slight bruising in and around the treatment area.  These side effects, while minimal, are more easily concealed during the winter months when we’re wearing more clothing.

Why SkinSpaMED for CoolSculpting in Dallas?

When you’re looking for CoolSculpting treatments near Dallas, SkinSpaMED should be your first choice for several reasons.

First, we just upgraded our CoolSculpting equipment!  Our new equipment uses the same technology but shortens the treatment time from 60 minutes to 35.  Plus, we also upgraded our handpieces to allow us to treat more areas of the body.

Second, while we LOVE CoolSculpting for many things, if we have a consultation and determine that CoolSculpting isn’t the right solution for you, we have other non-surgical solutions such as Flextone & Venus Freeze, that may be the right fit.

Third, because we have other non-surgical solutions, we have the capability to create a treatment plan that includes multiple services.  For example, say you want to eliminate unwanted fat on your stomach and reduce cellulite on your outer thighs.  After your consultation, we may determine it will be most effective to use CoolSculpting on your stomach but treat your thighs with Venus Freeze for cellulite reduction.  Being a full-service MedSpa allows us to treat multiple areas, with the most effective treatment, all in one convenient location.

Lastly, we accept Alle points for CoolSculpting services!  If you are a member of the Alle Loyalty Program through Allergan Aesthetics, you may receive special offers to help you save on CoolSculpting treatments.  Plus, when you get treated with us, you’ll earn points you can use toward future treatments or both.  Learn more about the Alle Loyalty Program and how it works with CoolSculpting here.

CoolSculpting FAQs

  • o There is little to no downtime with CoolSculpting.

  • No, CoolSculpting is not intended for weight loss. It is best used to remove stubborn fat that you haven’t been able to eliminate through diet and exercise alone.

  • During the treatment you’ll feel a light vacuum pressure and an intense cold. After a few minutes the treatment area should become temporarily numb so don’t feel much. Every client has a different tolerance for discomfort, but most patients do not find the treatment painful.

The Filler Celebrities Love but Rarely Talk About by Name

Scupltra® is one of my favorite products! I use it regularly when I’m doing cosmetic injections at SkinSpaMED!  The truth is, Sculptra really isn’t a filler at all, but it offers similar results.  A lot of people, including celebrities, use Sculptra to hold on to their youthful appearance but you likely won’t hear many people asking for it by name.  Sculptra is one of the best-kept secrets in my anti-aging toolbox, because this product is formulated differently than many other fillers on the market.

What Makes Sculptra® Different

I use Sculptra® to help clients replace lost volume which in turn helps them look more youthful overall.   While other fillers can do the same thing, the difference is in HOW they work.  Sculptra works with your body to encourage collagen production.  It is actually a poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) collagen stimulator, which means it works deep beneath the skin’s surface to target the underlying structure of the skin and decrease facial wrinkles from the inside, out.  Changes take place withing 2 to 6 months and results can last up to a few years after treatment!

Lack of collagen production is the root cause of fine lines, wrinkles, and aging. Sculptra is the only product in the cosmetic injection category that addresses the root cause by stimulating collagen production. Other fillers can help replace lost volume and/or contour areas of the face by adding filler to the area.

Sculptra vs Juvederm and other Fillers

Clients often ask why we offer so many options when it comes to cosmetic injections. They also ask how to choose between a product like Sculptra compared to Juvederm or other fillers.  We offer a number of options because every client is different.  We select the type of cosmetic injection you need based on the current condition of the area you want to treat along with your desired outcome.

For example, I would recommend Sculptra to a client that was looking to treat sunken or hollow areas of the face that have lost fat.  I would recommend Juvederm to a client that wanted to treat an area of the face or lips that has thinner skin such as areas around the mouth and nose as Sculptra can’t be used around the mouth and eyes.

As a client you should be educated on the types of cosmetic injections available BUT you shouldn’t need to tell your injector what to use!  You should always rely on your injector to do a thorough assessment and develop a treatment plan that includes the appropriate injections for the area you want to treat.   Knowing what is available, will help you ask questions and make informed decisions about your treatment options.  I always recommend scheduling a consultation with your injector before making any decisions.

FAQs

  • Sculptra is not an instant results injection. Results will appear over time and in some cases it can take up to 6 months to see full results with results lasting up to 2 years after a Sculptra injection.

  • Sculptra is an FDA approved injectable, however, I always recommend you visit the company’s site, read the possible side effects and discuss anything that concerns you with your injector. Here’s a link to their site.

  • Sculptra has some great before and after photos on their site. Click here to go to the page.

  • Yes! We have found that PRX-T33 pairs very well with Sculptra. Any time we have a client that gets these two services together they rave about their results. If you’re interested in coming up with a multi-modal treatment plan to address several issues, let us know during your consultation and we can make recommendations.

If you’re ready to experience one of the treatments our celebrity clients rave about, contact us to secure a spot on our schedule!

Treat Sunspots – 3 Services to Reverse Sun Damage

“Can you reverse sun damage?”  It’s one of the most frequently asked questions we receive.  My answer is always, yes and no!  Treating sunspots is not a black and white treatment so before we dig in to how to treat sunspots, let’s talk about what they are, how they happen, how to prevent them and then I’ll explain how we can help!

What are sunspots?

Sunspots are flat brown spots that can develop on the face and other areas of the body as a result of sun exposure.  While they are generally harmless from a health standpoint, you should make sure you’re watching new spots to make sure they are only sunspots and not the start of something more serious.  If you have concerns about new spots, I highly recommend seeing a board-certified dermatologist.  That said, even though sunspots themselves don’t pose a health risk, many people are self-conscious of them and want to remove them!

How to Prevent Sunspots

Before I share how we can treat sunspots, I want to talk about prevention.  It’s far easier to prevent than reverse sun damage once sunspots appear.  To prevent sunspots, you should practice smart sun safety which includes:

·         Wearing a high-quality SPF and reapplying it every few hours during prolonged sun exposure.

·         Wearing protective clothing; large hats, sunglasses, light clothing.

·         Avoiding sun exposure during peak and high UV times.

Treat Sunspots with these 3 Services at SkinSpaMED

If you’re ready to get to work, reverse sun damage and erase sunspots, I recommend considering any one of these treatments at SkinSpaMED.  They are all effective solutions for eliminating hyperpigmentation.

1.       IPL-Photofacial is the medical gold standard

2.       Chemical peels

3.       PRX-T33

Additional Services That May Be Options

1.       Tixel-followed by Hydroquinone 28%

2.       DOT-SmartXide CO2 (breaks borders of spots and blends in hypopigmented white spots)

3.       Microneedling

4.       Hydrafacial MD or LED therapy

How do I know which sunspot treatment to book?

You may be wondering why we offer so many options to treat sunspots.  The truth is, we offer multiple options so we can tailor treatments to the client’s overall skin needs.  Having several options gives us the ability to select a treatment that will be safe and effective for your skin type and goals.  We may even recommend using multiple modalities to help you reverse sun damage.  To help you determine which service to book, I recommend scheduling a consultation with us so we can create an individualized treatment plan for you.

FAQs About Treating Sunspots

  • Because we offer multiple modalities, we can typically find a solution for most clients. It would be a unique situation for us to deem someone “not a good candidate” for sunspot removal.

  • This depends on a number of things including:

    • How severe your sun damage is.

    • The service treatment you choose.

    • Whether or not your taking precautions outside of treatments while in the sun.

    • If you follow our treatment plan.

In general, if you follow our treatment plan and home care instructions, we will be able to significantly fade and even erase sunspots in many cases.

  • Pre-treatment instructions and post treatment care will vary depending on the service you receive. For example, a chemical peel will likely have more “downtime” than PRX-T33. We’ll go over the pros and cons of each treatment option during your consultation so you can plan for downtime accordingly.

  • At-home treatments likely won’t be as powerful as in-spa services. To get noticeable results we recommend a combination of prevention tactics, like wearing SPF daily and protective clothing, combined with in-spa treatments and a good product regimen. Our CE Ferulic drops are the perfect addition to your home routine while trying to reverse sun damage at home in between your clinic visits. In some cases, we suggest prescription Triluma cream be used at home 12 weeks a year as well.

3 Reasons SkinSpaMED Should Be Your First Choice for Tox Injections in Texas

Whether it’s your first time, or you’ve been getting cosmetic injections for years, the most important part of the process is making sure you’re working with the right injector!  From training to products to placement, there is a lot that goes into a successful cosmetic injection service.  Here’s why SkinSpaMED should be your first choice for tox injectables in Texas.

Experience and Continuing Education

My team and I are constantly training and staying up to date on the latest trends.  For example, I’ve got my eye on several new neurotoxins that are currently being tested.  I’m reading about how they are performing and how they are best used.  Knowing what tools are available and who to use them is key to a successful service.

I don’t just jump on the latest trends for the sake of saying we have something.  I thoroughly vet the products and techniques we use to ensure you’re getting the very best!  (If you’d like to educate yourself on the new toxins that may be coming to the market soon, here’s a great article with some information.

Promos

When it comes to cosmetic injections, you should never shop by price.  You should always shop by injector and focus on their knowledge and experience.  But, we do understand that saving a little from time to time is nice so we make it a priority to run regular promotions around Toxins and other fillers.

For example, May 25, 2022 is Toxin Day at both SkinSpaMED locations.  On that day, guests can enjoy $50 off their service.  Alle and Aspire members can use points towards your purchase to enjoy additional discounts on Botox, Dysport, Juvederm or Restylane all month!  If you want to stay up to date on the promotions we offer, be sure you’re on our email list.  Visit our website to sign up for our Beauty Brief Newsletter. So, while we are not a discount injection studio, we ARE an experienced injection provider that offers ways for you to save.

Multiple Modalities

Your injections are only as good as the quality of your skin.  You could have the most beautifully placed injections but if the rest of your skin has flaws, your injections will be overshadowed and this is the reason why so many people choose SkinSpaMED for injections.  Not only do we provide amazing results with Tox injections and filler, but we also have the tools to improve your skin as a whole.  When a new client comes to see me, I can put together a treatment plan that not only includes the injections they want, but also the skin care treatments they need to truly turn back the hands of time, elevate their natural beauty and unleash their inner celebrity.

If you have questions about Tox injections, filler or skin care services, schedule any treatment with our team and we will develop a personalized and comprehensive treatment plan for you that includes a Visia Skin Analysis at no charge. We’d love to show you why SkinSpaMED is Texas’s first choice for celebrity quality beauty treatments.

Upneeq® - The Newest Must-Have Product at SkinSpaMED

The team at SkinSpaMED are eye experts! From injections to resolve crow’s feet to our Madonna Eyelift, we have helped hundreds if not thousands of patients rejuvenate their eye area.  One of the most common complaints we hear from clients is that they feel like their eyes look tired even when they feel great!

The solution is not to get more sleep, it’s Upneeq®!

What is Upneeq®?

Upneeq® is a new prescription strength eye drop that is FDA approved to treat blepharoptosis (also referred to as ptosis and/or low-lying lids).  For years surgery was really the only option to treat low-lying lids.  Now with daily drops of Upneeq® you can lift your upper eye lids, creating a more youthful appearance without the downtime or risk involved with surgery.

Why You Should Come to SkinSpaMED for Upneeq®

Upneeq® is another tool in our toolbox.  When a client comes to us unhappy with their appearance of their eyes, Upneeq® is another way we can treat them.  But, we also have a variety of other tools we can use.

So, while you could go to an eye doctor and ask them to prescribe this product for you, that’s likely all they’d be able to offer.  When you come to SkinSpaMED, we have a number of modalities that allow us to create a comprehensive treatment plan to deliver show stopping eyes.

Other Benefits of Upneeq®

In addition to lifting the eye lids, many clients report that Upneeq® also whitens their eyes.  This often eliminates the need for them to use additional drops just for whitening.  Bright, white eyes also promotes a more youthful, healthy appearance.

Lastly, this product can also help improve your vision.  For some patients, severe drooping eye lids may cause vision impairment.  Upneeq® can help lift the upper eye lid ultimately improving a patient’s field of vision.

  • Yes! It is safe to use if you wear contacts.

  • Yes, you can use Upneeq® after lasik, but if you’re planning to get lasik you should consult with your eye doctor prior to starting this product.

  • Most clients see a noticeable improvement using this product. That said, if you have moderate to severe ptosis or excess skin on the upper eyelid, surgery may be the best option to get your desired result.

  • We’ll go over usage during your visit but in general most people do one drop per eye each morning.

  • Upneeq® is well tolerated by most people however some people do experience redness and/or dryness.

If you’re ready to refresh your eye area, get on our schedule to see if Upneeq® is the right solution for you!

Neurotoxins and Filler

It’s Toxin Month at SkinSpaMED and in honor of it, we wanted to explain your options when it comes to cosmetic injections!  If you’re new to cosmetic injections, you may think that Botox, a neurotoxin, and dermal fillers are one in the same.  In this post, we explain the difference between neurotoxins and fillers, plus how and where they are used.  Make sure you read all the way to the end where we answer some of the most frequently asked questions we get!

What is a neurotoxin?

When it comes to cosmetic injections, neurotoxins are a category of products that contain brand names like Botox®, Dysport® and Xeomin®.   You may hear these brands affectionately referred to as “Tox Injectables” or “Toxins.”  When injected, Toxins will suppress muscle contractions in and around the injection site, allowing you to enjoy smooth, wrinkle free skin just like you see on all the hottest celebrities.

Botox® is the most well-known neurotoxin as it has a lot of name recognition throughout the industry.  But, don’t discount some of the others like Dysport®.  Dysport® is an amazing product that can do wonders for those stubborn lines in between your eyebrows also known as frown lines.

The Top 5 Places to Use Toxins

Neurotoxins are great for treating:

  1. Frown lines

  2. Crow’s feet

  3. Forehead lines

  4. Bunny lines

  5. Lip & mouth lines

What is filler?

Hyaluronic Acid Dermal Fillers are another option when it comes to cosmetic injections.  You may hear them referred to as “HAs” and “fillers.”   This category of products contains brands like Juvederm®, Radiesse® and Restylane®.  Each of these brands have further developed their product lines to include targeted HAs like Restylane® which created Kysse® a designer HA filler specifically for lips.

Filler’s job is to add or replace volume in targeted areas of the face.  As we age and our collagen production declines, you may notice that your face starts to look saggy or deflated.   A highly trained injector can use filler to help restore a youthful appearance.  Filler is also great for adding volume to specific areas and is very commonly used for lip injections.

The Top 5 Places to Use Filler

  1. Lips

  2. Cheeks

  3. Chin

  4. Jawline

  5. Under eyes

FAQs

  • Can you use Toxins and filler together?

Yes!  When you come in for a consult we’ll discuss your goals and determine whether we need a Toxin, filler or both to get you there.

  • How are cosmetic injections priced?

Toxins are generally priced by unit or area and filler is generally priced by syringe.  Some injectors have minimums.  At SkinSpaMED, we have a 20 unit minimum. Again, when you come in for a treatment your injector will tell you how much product is needed to accomplish what you’re looking for and give you a price from there.

  • Will I see same day results with Toxins and fillers?

It depends on the product we use.  With Botox®, it can take up 2 weeks before you see the full results.  With some of the newer product lines, clients see results in as little as 3 days. With filler, some results are visible immediately while others take a few days to appear.

  • What if I don’t like my results?

Getting cosmetic injections for the first time, whether it’s a Toxin or filler, can be intimidating.  Many clients worry that they won’t like their look post-treatment.  If you go to an expert injector like ours, who takes the time to fully understand what you’re looking for, you will probably be very happy with your decision to get cosmetic injections. If you go to someone who isn’t experienced, you risk not getting the result you hoped for so when it comes to injections, always shop by reviews and experience, never price.  If you do your homework and still end up unhappy you have two options, one let your body naturally eliminate the injections over time, or two, talk with your injector about products like Hylenex® that can expedite the dissolving process.

If you’ve been thinking about injections, it’s the perfect time!  On February 23, 2022, we’re celebrating Toxins with $50 every service at both locations. Get on our schedule now!

Photo Facials aka IPL

Sun lovers, this one is for you!  If you’ve made it your New Years Resolution to improve your skin, and/or reverse sun damage you’ve done in the past, a Photo Facial is the next service you need to book!  Flawless, makeup optional skin isn’t just something celebrities have.  You can have it too when you book a service like this.

  • Redness

  • Rosacea

  • Brown spots

  • Fine Lines

  • Enlarged Pores

While you’ll see an improvement after just one visit, photo facials generally require a series of treatments in order to arrive at your final results.  The number of treatments you’ll need depends on the condition of your skin when you come in, along with what you’re hoping to achieve.  Either way, an IPL treatment can get the job done and if you start your series of treatments NOW, by the time summer comes around again, you won’t have to think twice about being makeup free by the pool.

Here’s the best part…IPLs are also on sale throughout November at SkinSpaMED!  Treatments are just $79 per area.

Whether you’re prepping for holiday events or committing to improving your skin in the year, booking one or all three of these services this month should be on your to-do list.  Take advantage of our promos throughout November 2021, or join one of our membership programs.  IPLs and DOT CO2 treatments are included in our packages. Beauty IS more than Skin Deep!

Beauty IS more than Skin Deep!

Our skin is our largest organ. It helps to protect us as well as keep us beautiful. Did you know that that the old saying that beauty is more than skin deep is actually true? Our skin has multiple layers, the outermost is what you see. Why do I bring this up? Because now is a great time to address those “underneath” the skin issues so that by the fall and holidays, you see more package than what is customary for the holidays. What package am I talking about? Your beautiful supple skin…Ultherapy…that is what I am talking about. It’s the “beneath the skin” skin treatment.

LIP INJECTIONS DO’S & DON’TS FOR THE BEST LIPS EVER!

We may desire full beautiful lips but worry that we may end up with the unnatural ‘duck lip’. We do beautiful lips all the time and can help! Dermal filler, like Juvederm that is on special this month, is an extremely safe option for achieving some seriously kissable lips. If you are planning or even deciding on lip fillers, we have developed a list of things to do and not to do!

1. DON’T:  NO blood thinners 7 days prior. This includes that enticing glass of your favorite wine. (Okay, okay!…ONE glass may not hurt but don’t get carried away.) Remember that alcohol can cause inflammation so if you can avoid it all the better! Blood thinners to avoid include fish oils, Aspirin, Aleve, Ibuprofen, Advil, etc. Got a headache?…Tylenol is okay! Blood thinners increase the likelihood of bruising. But PLEASE consult with your health care provider before stopping any medications.

2. DO:  Hydrate! Drink lots of water and try to relax for the day. These two will help improve your body’s ability to heal.

3. DON’T: Massage your lips. I know that they feel great and luscious, but massaging or playing with freshly injected lips risks moving the filler around causing the possibility of movement and undesirable results.

4. DO: You will be swollen for a couple of days…up to one week. This is completely NORMAL and will go away.

5. DON’T: Workout for about 24 hours following the treatment. You want to avoid things that increase blood flow to your face. Although lip injections do not technically require any downtime, ice those beautiful plump lips to decrease swelling.

6. DO: Take Arnica. We sell VitaMedica Arnica tablets and cream, or you can order it online or pick it up at the local pharmacy. Follow the directions on the box a few days prior to your appointment and a few days following.

FAQ’s:

HOW LONG DO LIP FILLERS LAST?

HA (Hyaluronic Acid) fillers such as Restlyane products last up to 12 months. Our bodies naturally metabolize the formula over time. Slowly! Schedule your follow up injections for 8 months out and if you need to cancel or push out further…that’s great!

IF YOU HAVE A HISTORY OF COLD SORES, WHAT TO DO PRIOR TO INJECTIONS?

Injections could trigger a cold sore. We can prescribe a prevention medication to start taking two days prior to treatment.

CAN YOU AFFORD LIP FILLERS?

Filler currently range from $550 to 650 a syringe at SkinSpaMED. Our Hyraulaunic Acid (i.e., Juvederm, Kysse) is $75 off this month (July 2021). We also take Care Credit! Get the lips you want NOW and pay later with Care Credit’s medical credit card.

ARE LIP INJECTIONS PAINFUL?

Speaking from experience…sort of but not really! Most fillers are mixed with lidocaine + topical numbing is available. There is a stick that you will feel, and then the lidocaine from the filler kicks in almost immediately. We offer vibration or other methods to help you not think so much about it, but when it is done…WORTH IT!

ARE FILLERS ONLY FOR PLUMPING LIPS?

NOPE! Fillers can help with fine lines around the lips sometimes called smokers line or cause by sucking from straws among many other uses for lost volume in the face. Book a consult today to see where and which fillers may be right for you.

Lip Fillers - Who needs them and why?

Lip Fillers - Who needs them and why?

What are lip fillers and why do we need them? The lip fillers we use are hyaluronic acid and they provide some beautiful aesthetic value. Hyaluronic acid, also known as hyaluronan, is a clear, gooey substance that is naturally produced by your body. The largest amounts of it are found in your skin, connective tissue and eyes. Its main function is to retain water to keep your tissues well lubricated and moist. Hyaluronic acid fillers can improve the appearance of your lips through adding shape, structure and volume. The effects typically last around eight months, but everyone is different.

12 Best Mineral Sunscreens to Protect Your Face and Body, According to Dermatologists

Dermatologists are always talking about how crucial sunscreen is, but have you given much thought to how it protects you? Sunscreen can work one of two ways: It can use chemical filters to absorb harmful UV rays so that your skin doesn’t, or it can literally block the light from getting to your skin at all. Mineral (a.k.a. physical) sunscreen is the latter, the type that sits on top of your skin, almost like a layer of armor—and derms love it.

Top 10 Things to Do in DFW Out of the Sun

The sun is out and summer is in full effect. The heat and sun are brutal on your skin, so we have come up with our staff’s favorite summer-time activities out of the sun here in DFW.

While we have all grown accustomed to watching movies at home during the pandemic, it is time to re-experience the magic of watching a movie at the movie theatre. They are cold, dark, have yummy popcorn and snacks and some even offer adult beverages. And, don’t stop at just your regular movie theatre, try something really fun like the Love Sacks at Inwood Theatre or the chic bar at Alamo Drafthouse.

Casinos are vast and require a lot of walking, that is good for your health. Most have nonsmoking areas these days.

Wine Tasting

Wine tasting is such a fun summer experience. There are numerous wine tasting tours in Grapevine. There are some tasty vineyards/ wineries in the DFW area. Silver Dollar Winery, Delaney Vineyards and Bingham Family Vineyards Grapevine just name a few. These are beautiful settings with interesting people and you may find your new favorite wine.

Gym Work Out

Gyms are open and are in full swing. If you have avoided the gym like the plague (pun intended), they seem to have received the memo. The gyms I have seen have more sanitizing stations and towels. Gyms are a great way to kill a few hours on the weekend out of the sun. There are too any benefits to list here.

Museums

Not into busy workouts and hustle and bustle, then try one of the award-winning museums and/or exhibits. There are too many to list them all, but some of my favorites are Kimball Art in Fort Worth, Sixth Floor Dallas, Perot Museums, Dallas MOA, George W Bush Presidential Library at SMU, just to mention a very few. Google it and go on an art tour in the city that may transcend you into another place and time, out of the heat and sun.

Summer Skin Survival Tips

Summer Skin Survival Tips

As the weather changes into the hot summer months, so should your skincare. Summer is hard on your skin. The sun, heat and increased pollution all take a toll on your skin’s glow. Sweat means increased oil production and speedier cell production resulting in summer breakouts. Dehydration is a big problem during these months, both on your body and on your skin. The following are my list of top skincare protocols for the hot summer months.

Top Father’s Day Gifts from SkinSpaMED

Father’s Day is coming up next weekend. Maybe this is the year to try something new to celebrate Dad. We know that he loves his ties and barbecue sets, but we have a little different idea for Father’s Day 2021. We have more men coming to the spa than ever and you don’t even have to be a father to enjoy our treatments. Our men’s favorite treatments are as follows:

Flextone - Looking to burn fat and build muscle, all while perfecting the look of your butt and toning your body overall? This next-generation equipment checks all the boxes by delivering cutting – edge IFEM (Intense Focused Electromagnetic) technology that induces powerful muscle contractions.

The technology induces 20,000 supramaximal muscle contractions not achievable through voluntary contractions-compared to doing 20,000 full contraction crunches or squats in 1 session.

The supramaximal contractions cause muscle remodeling of it's inner structure resulting in muscle building and fat burning.

The result: rapid body shaping, muscle strengthening and redefinition, and a toner physique overall.

CoolSculpting: CoolSculpting is a non-invasive procedure that removes fat without any needles, anesthetic or scalpels. CoolSculpting cools areas of the skin to an extremely cold temperature, essentially "freezing fat", causing fat cells to die out. This is an ideal procedure to treat localized areas of fat, such as love handles and tummy fat.

Typically, you’ll see an undeniable reduction of fat in the treated area after just one visit. However, you can lose even more with additional treatments. The fat cells are naturally eliminated from your body over the following few months, leaving you feeling more like yourself again.

  • Reduce fat, sculpt the body

  • Real, visible results

  • Consistent and predictable fat reduction

  • Cumulative effects with re-treatment

  • Biologically selective — only affects fat

  • Non-invasive

  • FDA cleared

Botox-Dysport

The use of neurotoxins and dermal fillers in men has been on the rise for more than 30 years, but men don’t often achieve the same results as women. To provide desired result, injectors must consider the more masculine features of men’s faces.

Men have certain characteristics that set them apart from women regarding neurotoxin and dermal fillers. Men’s skulls are about 20 % larger than women, and they have more facial muscle mass, subcutaneous tissue, and blood vessel density. Men tend to have less subcutaneous facial fat tissue than women. Men also have more prominent jawlines and chins, higher and wider foreheads, and their eyebrows have a flatter contour. Men’s eyes are typically larger than women’s but are smaller in proportion to their face, and their noses are usually wider than women’s.

According to a study published in 2015 in the Journal of Drugs in Dermatology, these differences effect facial expressions. Because men’s facial expressions tend to be larger and stronger because of their face size, they will develop deeper more severe wrinkles in certain facial areas than women meaning that it may require more product or different techniques.

The four most popular and effective areas that men treat are:

1.     Wrinkles on the forehead, around or between the eyes (11’s)

2.     Tired Eyes and Dark Circles

3.     Lines on either side of your mouth

4.     Hyperhidrosis, otherwise known as “Excess Sweating

We hear a lot of questions from our men but what we hear most is that they want to look refreshed and younger without looking like any work was done. That is our specialty!

Gratuity is Always Appreciated but Never Required!

Gratuity is Always Appreciated but Never Required!

While gratuity is not required, it is always nice to tip your specialist. We get questions often about what is customary gratuity for medspa services. There is a lot out there about expected gratuity for eating out, getting your hair done, but how much do you tip for a very expensive service, and how do you determine the tip for extremely discounted services, and how much should members tip. We have a pretty simple answer and guide for that question.

America Is About to Go Botox Wild.

America Is About to Go Botox Wild.

I read this post over the weekend, and as we are getting ready for our big Botox-Dysport Event, and I wanted to share it with you. It is from The Atlantic by Amanda Mull.

The post-pandemic beauty boom has arrived.

Over the past year, Americans have lamented, loudly and publicly, the loss of many of the communal aspects of pre-pandemic life: eating inside restaurants without worry. Going to packed concerts and sporting events. Celebrating holidays and birthdays with lots of loved ones. Often in a quieter voice, Americans have also lamented a slightly different, less communal loss, one that’s trickier to mourn in the middle of a mass-casualty event. Like mani-pedis.

It’s not just mani-pedis, of course…
