Why Winter is the Best Time for CoolSculpting

Your summer body starts in the winter.  If you were less than happy with your body this past summer, it’s the perfect time to talk with us about how we can get to work during winter to make sure you’re ready when the warm weather returns.  One service we love to do during the winter months is CoolSculpting!

What is CoolSculpting?

CoolSculpting is a non-surgical solution for body contouring.   It’s a non-invasive procedure that cools areas of the skin to an extremely low temperature.  CoolSculpting technology allows the extreme temperatures to reach beneath the skin’s surface down to the fat cells and freeze them.  This process causes the fat cells to die off allowing us to treat and elminate localized areas of fat on the stomach, love handles, legs and more!

Benefits of CoolSculpting

Once the fat cells die off, your body will naturally eliminate them over time, and you’ll notice visible results that include:

·         Less fat

·         Reduced cellulite

·         A more toned appearance

Results will vary from client to client, but in general, CoolSculpting is an FDA-approved, proven treatment for visibly reducing unwanted fat in both men and women.

Here’s Why Winter is The Perfect Time to Book a CoolSculpting Appointment

CoolSculpting services can be done all year round, but we love doing them in winter for several reasons.

First, CoolSculpting often requires multiple sessions spaced several weeks apart.  By starting treatments during the winter, you’ll give your body time to respond to treatments so you’ll have visible results by the time summer rolls around again.

Two, once your body does respond to treatments, it can take several months before you actually see visible results.  In addition to needing multiple treatments, you also need to wait for your body to process and eliminate the dead fat cells.  This process can take up to 3 months to complete.

Finally, sometimes CoolSculpting can cause redness, swelling and slight bruising in and around the treatment area.  These side effects, while minimal, are more easily concealed during the winter months when we’re wearing more clothing.

Why SkinSpaMED for CoolSculpting in Dallas?

When you’re looking for CoolSculpting treatments near Dallas, SkinSpaMED should be your first choice for several reasons.

First, we just upgraded our CoolSculpting equipment!  Our new equipment uses the same technology but shortens the treatment time from 60 minutes to 35.  Plus, we also upgraded our handpieces to allow us to treat more areas of the body.

Second, while we LOVE CoolSculpting for many things, if we have a consultation and determine that CoolSculpting isn’t the right solution for you, we have other non-surgical solutions such as Flextone & Venus Freeze, that may be the right fit.

Third, because we have other non-surgical solutions, we have the capability to create a treatment plan that includes multiple services.  For example, say you want to eliminate unwanted fat on your stomach and reduce cellulite on your outer thighs.  After your consultation, we may determine it will be most effective to use CoolSculpting on your stomach but treat your thighs with Venus Freeze for cellulite reduction.  Being a full-service MedSpa allows us to treat multiple areas, with the most effective treatment, all in one convenient location.

Lastly, we accept Alle points for CoolSculpting services!  If you are a member of the Alle Loyalty Program through Allergan Aesthetics, you may receive special offers to help you save on CoolSculpting treatments.  Plus, when you get treated with us, you’ll earn points you can use toward future treatments or both.  Learn more about the Alle Loyalty Program and how it works with CoolSculpting here.

CoolSculpting FAQs

  • o There is little to no downtime with CoolSculpting.

  • No, CoolSculpting is not intended for weight loss. It is best used to remove stubborn fat that you haven’t been able to eliminate through diet and exercise alone.

Upneeq® - The Newest Must-Have Product at SkinSpaMED

The team at SkinSpaMED are eye experts! From injections to resolve crow’s feet to our Madonna Eyelift, we have helped hundreds if not thousands of patients rejuvenate their eye area.  One of the most common complaints we hear from clients is that they feel like their eyes look tired even when they feel great!

The solution is not to get more sleep, it’s Upneeq®!

What is Upneeq®?

Upneeq® is a new prescription strength eye drop that is FDA approved to treat blepharoptosis (also referred to as ptosis and/or low-lying lids).  For years surgery was really the only option to treat low-lying lids.  Now with daily drops of Upneeq® you can lift your upper eye lids, creating a more youthful appearance without the downtime or risk involved with surgery.

Why You Should Come to SkinSpaMED for Upneeq®

Upneeq® is another tool in our toolbox.  When a client comes to us unhappy with their appearance of their eyes, Upneeq® is another way we can treat them.  But, we also have a variety of other tools we can use.

So, while you could go to an eye doctor and ask them to prescribe this product for you, that’s likely all they’d be able to offer.  When you come to SkinSpaMED, we have a number of modalities that allow us to create a comprehensive treatment plan to deliver show stopping eyes.

Other Benefits of Upneeq®

In addition to lifting the eye lids, many clients report that Upneeq® also whitens their eyes.  This often eliminates the need for them to use additional drops just for whitening.  Bright, white eyes also promotes a more youthful, healthy appearance.

Lastly, this product can also help improve your vision.  For some patients, severe drooping eye lids may cause vision impairment.  Upneeq® can help lift the upper eye lid ultimately improving a patient’s field of vision.

  • Yes! It is safe to use if you wear contacts.

  • Yes, you can use Upneeq® after lasik, but if you’re planning to get lasik you should consult with your eye doctor prior to starting this product.

  • Most clients see a noticeable improvement using this product. That said, if you have moderate to severe ptosis or excess skin on the upper eyelid, surgery may be the best option to get your desired result.

  • We’ll go over usage during your visit but in general most people do one drop per eye each morning.

  • Upneeq® is well tolerated by most people however some people do experience redness and/or dryness.

If you’re ready to refresh your eye area, get on our schedule to see if Upneeq® is the right solution for you!

Neurotoxins and Filler

It’s Toxin Month at SkinSpaMED and in honor of it, we wanted to explain your options when it comes to cosmetic injections!  If you’re new to cosmetic injections, you may think that Botox, a neurotoxin, and dermal fillers are one in the same.  In this post, we explain the difference between neurotoxins and fillers, plus how and where they are used.  Make sure you read all the way to the end where we answer some of the most frequently asked questions we get!

What is a neurotoxin?

When it comes to cosmetic injections, neurotoxins are a category of products that contain brand names like Botox®, Dysport® and Xeomin®.   You may hear these brands affectionately referred to as “Tox Injectables” or “Toxins.”  When injected, Toxins will suppress muscle contractions in and around the injection site, allowing you to enjoy smooth, wrinkle free skin just like you see on all the hottest celebrities.

Botox® is the most well-known neurotoxin as it has a lot of name recognition throughout the industry.  But, don’t discount some of the others like Dysport®.  Dysport® is an amazing product that can do wonders for those stubborn lines in between your eyebrows also known as frown lines.

The Top 5 Places to Use Toxins

Neurotoxins are great for treating:

  1. Frown lines

  2. Crow’s feet

  3. Forehead lines

  4. Bunny lines

  5. Lip & mouth lines

What is filler?

Hyaluronic Acid Dermal Fillers are another option when it comes to cosmetic injections.  You may hear them referred to as “HAs” and “fillers.”   This category of products contains brands like Juvederm®, Radiesse® and Restylane®.  Each of these brands have further developed their product lines to include targeted HAs like Restylane® which created Kysse® a designer HA filler specifically for lips.

Filler’s job is to add or replace volume in targeted areas of the face.  As we age and our collagen production declines, you may notice that your face starts to look saggy or deflated.   A highly trained injector can use filler to help restore a youthful appearance.  Filler is also great for adding volume to specific areas and is very commonly used for lip injections.

The Top 5 Places to Use Filler

  1. Lips

  2. Cheeks

  3. Chin

  4. Jawline

  5. Under eyes

FAQs

  • Can you use Toxins and filler together?

Yes!  When you come in for a consult we’ll discuss your goals and determine whether we need a Toxin, filler or both to get you there.

  • How are cosmetic injections priced?

Toxins are generally priced by unit or area and filler is generally priced by syringe.  Some injectors have minimums.  At SkinSpaMED, we have a 20 unit minimum. Again, when you come in for a treatment your injector will tell you how much product is needed to accomplish what you’re looking for and give you a price from there.

  • Will I see same day results with Toxins and fillers?

It depends on the product we use.  With Botox®, it can take up 2 weeks before you see the full results.  With some of the newer product lines, clients see results in as little as 3 days. With filler, some results are visible immediately while others take a few days to appear.

  • What if I don’t like my results?

Getting cosmetic injections for the first time, whether it’s a Toxin or filler, can be intimidating.  Many clients worry that they won’t like their look post-treatment.  If you go to an expert injector like ours, who takes the time to fully understand what you’re looking for, you will probably be very happy with your decision to get cosmetic injections. If you go to someone who isn’t experienced, you risk not getting the result you hoped for so when it comes to injections, always shop by reviews and experience, never price.  If you do your homework and still end up unhappy you have two options, one let your body naturally eliminate the injections over time, or two, talk with your injector about products like Hylenex® that can expedite the dissolving process.

If you’ve been thinking about injections, it’s the perfect time!  On February 23, 2022, we’re celebrating Toxins with $50 every service at both locations. Get on our schedule now!
