Antoni Porowski's Nighttime Skincare Routine
/Antoni Porowski is the resident food and wine expert on the hit Netflix show Queer Eye, which means he knows his way around the kitchen. But how well does he know his way around skincare? In this week’s episode of Go To Bed With Me, Porowshi shares his entire nighttime skincare regimen. (He’s even picked up some tips from fellow Queer Eye star, Jonathan Van Ness).
Porowski is currently on a promotional tour, which means he needs to adhere to an essential beauty rule: always remove your makeup. He adds two to three pumps of Susanne Kaufmann’s Cleansing Gel to the Clarisonic Alpha Fit Men’s Face Brush, splashes his face with water, then rubs his face with the device. Using a circular motion, he starts at the forehead and works his way down.
“Scents are very important to me. I like things that are super calming, especially after a manic day from running around,” he says. “And the Suzanne Kaufman face wash feels meditative and chill it feels like you’re in a spa.” After he rinses his face, Porowski notes that on some nights he skips his Clarisonic and applies Tata Harper Clarifying Cleanser directly instead.
“Very fancy, but very good,” Porowski says before he rubs a few dabs of La Prairie Skin Caviar Essence-in-Lotion onto his face. “And usually, I only do my face, but after watching fellow Polish man Matthew Noska’s video for you guys, he taught me that you should always do your neck as well,” he adds.
To prevent any breakouts, Porowski dabs a drying spot treatment from his aesthetician called Christine Chin Herbal Blemish Gel. Chin also recommends that he applies vitamin C-rich serum to the rest of his face. So, Porowski places the pipette of the Obagi Professional-C Serum directly to his face, squeezes the dropper, then gently rubs the liquid into his skin. “With this toner and vitamin C serum, I noticed more evenness in my skin. I never really wore makeup until Queer Eye started since you get that buildup over time, my pores would get clogged,” he explains.
One beauty tip he picked up from Queer Eye costar Van Ness is to use your ring finger to apply eye cream, however, Porowski finds using his pinky “easiest to apply.” He dabs a few dots of La Prairie Skin Caviar Luxe Eye Lift Cream under his eyes then lightly rubs it in using a windshield wiper motion. To keep the rest of his face equally as youthful, Porowski liberally applies “a nice little coat” of La Prairie Skin Caviar Luxe Cream, first starting at this forehead before moving onto his cheeks and nose.
Dark circles are hereditary for Porowski, but he found that applying Acqua Di Parma Moisturizing Eye Cream directly from the tube helps to keep them in check. He gets visibly excited explaining what an overnight face mask is, and right now he is loving Royal Fern Hydra-Firm Intense Mask. “My only tip from this: wait for 10 to 15 minutes before you get on your pillow because there was one morning where I woke up, and I had a whole imprint of my face on the pillow, and it was kinda terrifying,” he says.
On nights he doesn’t feel like going through his entire skincare nightly routines, he will spray a mist of Fellow Barber Everyday Tonic onto his face before he hops out of the shower.
After taking care of his skin, Porowski takes two products to help him unwind before bed fully, First, he drinks a recent discovery called Som Sleep Zero Sugar Beverage, which he says knocks him out. He follows up with Olly Restful Sleep Gummies, which he describes as a “Welch’s grape juice situation. As much as I want to have ten of these, I only have two,” he admits. And finally, to help create a calming space that reminds him of home when he travels, Porowski lights a Byredo Perfums Apocalypic Scented Candle.
