Juvederm Filler: What to Expect
/If you are one of those people considering taking a leap into the world of fillers, here are a few tips on what to expect so your experience is smooth and pleasant. Juvederm is one of our favorite fillers to use for our clients. It’s hyaluronic-acid based, which our bodies make anyway, so the filler is extremely compatible and integrates nicely with your body’s own tissues. In addition, and another plus, Juvederm is it stimulates our bodies to produce collagen again.
So, what can you expect when you come in for Juvederm injections?
Juvederm is fabulous for smoothing lines and wrinkles, bringing back volume to those areas of the face with volume deficit, and plumping lips for an ever- so-sexy pout that’s natural.
Some of our clients who come in for Juvederm injections feel nervous about discomfort with the procedure.
No fear, though, as we have the best numbing cream on the market to take the edge off, allows you to relax and have a comfortable experience. The process takes less than 20 minutes and can be done on your lunch hour.
To avoid bruising, simply stop taking things that thin your blood about 3 days before you come to see us.
These include: Vitamin E, Fish Oil, Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Red Wine, and Ginkgo Biloba.
It’s not the end of the world if you have taken any of these items. Marie is a very gentle injector and does her best to minimize bruising. If bruising does occur, concealer is amazing for a day or two as the healing process occurs.
A great supportive measure to speed up healing and minimize bruising is to stop by Sprouts or Whole Foods and pick up a homeopathic remedy called Arnica Montana.
Arnica is THE remedy for helping boo-boos heal quickly and is good to keep in your medicine cabinet for any bruising or trauma. It’s safe for kids, won’t interact with any medications, and is inexpensive. Three pellets under the tongue a couple times a day before and after your injections will serve you well with minimizing trauma to the area injected.
How long can you expect Juvederm to last once it’s injected?
Most people will see a duration of about 9-12 months, especially with the Juvederm Ultra Plus XC that we use in our office. Keep in mind, though, that if you have a good metabolism and work out intensely, you may burn through it a little more quickly than the average person.
