Can you believe October is OVER?

As a child there isn't anything better than dressing up and getting buckets full of candy. As an adult it gets even better because you can do the exact same thing! Remember, sugar takes a toll on your skin so if you’re going to indulge in candy make sure it’s the good stuff.

Poor nutrition, not just a single type of food or an evening of delighting in sugary snacks, makes you more vulnerable to breakouts. When you consistently ingest carb-rich foods, the body converts the carbohydrates into glucose (sugar), raising your insulin levels. This insulin spike causes inflammation throughout the body.

This inflammation promotes the production of enzymes that destroy the elastin and collagen in the skin, leading to wrinkles and sags. Furthermore, having a poor diet can lead to exacerbating acne and other skin conditions, such as rosacea. When your body produces more insulin, it may also increase its production of skin oil, which could clog hair follicles and form zits.

The worst offenders are simple carbohydrates, like those found in Halloween candy!

So, you indulged in your favorite sugary delights. You’re human. It happens. Don’t beat yourself up. Instead, get back on track with these tips:

    •    Sleep

    •    Stress less

    •    Hydrate

    •    Eat balanced, lower-carb meals

    •    Wash your face daily

    •    Moisturize

    •    Clean your phone
